This sounds like what a courageous person would do. In comparison, when I think of Link, I imagine him going ahead and confronting Hilda about her plans.
One could argue that Courage would have been to confront Hilda and shake her out of this rather than running away. However, he did this with an idea in mind, the idea to find help in Hyrule and eventually save Hilda from Yuga and herself. He wanted to stop Hilda and Yuga, but chose to run away because he couldn't confront them. Maybe what he did was a form of Courage in itself, but it is much closer to one of the other virtue: Wisdom. Before this, Ravio fled and hid himself behind a mask, unable to find the courage to confront Hilda and Yuga. In the game, he only attains true Courage after the time he's spent with Link. But I'd like to try and give this a more in-depth analysis, both based on the virtues displayed by the characters and the similarities in personality and/or actions with their "spiritual" counterparts. Of course, this theory is nothing new, I have seen many people throw the idea around and this is inspired by many other theories I have seen. What we see by endgame is a result of the Hyrule characters influencing the Lorule ones, but not what these characters were meant to be. Basically, what I am saying is that the roles in Lorule may very well be inverted, With Ravio symbolizing Wisdom, Hilda symbolizing Power and Yuga symbolizing Courage. This theory proposes that spiritually, while Ravio, Hilda and Yuga are indeed literal/physical counterparts to Link, Zelda and Ganondorf, they are not spiritual counterparts to them- Or rather, not in that order. They only become representatives of the three virtue through interactions with characters from Hyrule. They start out quite differently, they even start out detached from their supposedly assigned virtue. Yet, on their own the Lorule characters fail to meet the requirements for being representative of Courage, Wisdom and Power. This is true as far as their role in the story and their physical appearances are concerned (fairly debatable regarding Yuga's appearance) and there is no doubt this was Nintendo's intent. Logic dictates that Ravio, Hilda and Yuga are respectively counterparts to Link, Zelda and Ganondorf. So please, do not read any further if you do not want the game to be spoiled for you.Īnyway.
